NLEX finally broke through with its maiden win in the 2015 PBA Commissioner’s Cup even as the San Miguel Beermen remained winless after losing to Alaska!

Led by their prolific import Al Thornton, the NLEX Road Warriors handily took care of business against expansion team Blackwater, 106-79, to finally notch a win in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup on Tuesday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

Thornton had 39 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Road Warriors, shooting a very effecting 14-for-20 from the field and 4-for-5 from beyond the arc.

NLEX, which dropped three straight games to start the conference, finally began living up to their own high expectations in an impressive beatdown of Blackwater (1-4), which was riding the momentum of an upset win over Philippine Cup champs San Miguel.

The Road Warriors were merciless in this one, leading by as much as 35 points in the one-sided contest.

NLEX completely dominated Blackwater in the first half, with the Road Warriors more than doubling the output of the Elite. Bryan Faundo’s 17 points paced the losing side.

ALASKA ACES over SAN MIGUEL BEERMEN, 107-100

The Philippine Cup runner-up Alaska Aces gained some measure of revenge on slumping champions San Miguel, tabbing another loss on the Beermen’s record following a 107-100 win on Tuesday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

The Aces bucked a slow start to the game, erasing a first quarter deficit and eventually putting the Beermen away with some steady play in the endgame.

Import DJ Covington had 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Dondon Hontiveros added 17 points, including several clutch free throws that helped preserve the victory for Alaska. Rookie guard Chris Banchero also starred with 14 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists.

Calvin Abueva and Cyrus Baguio joined the Aces’ scoring parade with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Alaska (2-2) added to the woes of San Miguel, which was left searching for a first PBA Commissioner’s Cup victory after four games.

Import Ronald Roberts led SMB with 24 points and 14 rebounds, while June Mar Fajardo added 21 and 17. Arwind Santos continued to struggle, scoring just 4 points in under 8 minutes of play.
