Game recap (adapted from InterAKTV):
BARAKO BULL ENERGY over KIA CARNIVAL, 95-86
Box scores.
Barako Bull continued its winning ways even in the absence of star guard Sol Mercado as the Energy clinched a hard-fought 95-86 victory over Manny Pacquiao’s Kia Carnival on Sunday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.
Import Solomon Alabi had one of his finest efforts in the PBA, putting up 26 points, 20 rebounds, and 8 blocks to lead Barako Bull to a third consecutive victory.
JC Intal posted 18 points and 4 steals, while Chico Lanete added 10 markers in the win.
Kia, despite welcoming player coach Pacquiao back to the bench, fell to 1-3 for the conference following their upset win over Philippine Cup champion San Miguel.
Barako Bull’s defensive scheme against Kia – having a local scorer play primary defender to import PJ Ramos with Alabi ably providing help – proved very effective.
The 7-foot-3 center still finished with 34 points and 20 rebounds, although he did have six turnovers in the game.
Line of the Game: Solomon Alabi (BAR) - 26pts, 19rebs, 8blks, 2stls, 1ast.

BGY. GINEBRA GIN KINGS over SAN MIGUEL BEERMEN, 95-82
Box scores.
Barangay Ginebra San Miguel finally picked up a first win in the current conference at the expense of Philippine Cup champions San Miguel, 95-82, in a PBA Commissioner’s Cup clash on Sunday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.
Michael Dunigan made up for a subpar start to the conference with a 29-point, 13-rebound showing against the Beermen, while 7-foot-tall center Greg Slaughter had 18 points and 6 boards for Ginebra, which improved to 1-2.
Mark Caguioa and Joseph Yeo, who led the Ginebra transition game in the fourth quarter, added 17 and 11 points, respectively.
The game featured two imports who were raring to bounce back from less-than-ideal performances in their previous game. Ginebra’s Dunigan only scored 11 points on 3-for-13 shooting in his team’s loss against Barako Bull, while San Miguel’s Ronald Roberts had 18 points in his debut, but his Beermen fell in a shock upset to Kia.
Both came out more aggressive in this one with Dunigan eclipsing his output from the previous game as early as the first quarter, where he scored 14, while Roberts had 12 nearly match his.
By the end of the third quarter Dunigan already had 26 while Roberts had 25 to wipe out their previous performances.
Roberts finished with 32 points, 15 rebounds and five blocks for the Beermen. He showed off his impressive athletic ability on both ends of the floor. He posterized Dunigan with a huge dunk in the first half and would later swat his counterpart twice on one possession in the fourth quarter.
Reigning MVP June Mar Fajardo, for his part, had 13 rebounds and 4 blocks, but he failed to reach double-figures in scoring, finishing with just nine on 3-for-9 shooting.
Line of the Game: Ronald Roberts (SMB) - 32pts, 14rebs, 5blks, 2stls, 1ast, 13/22 FGs.
