ALASKA ACES over KIA CARNIVAL, 101-63

The Alaska Aces continued their strong campaign in the PBA Governors’ Cup as they obliterated expansion team Kia by 38 points, 101-63, on Friday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.
Vic Manuel led the way with 17 points and 4 rebounds for the Aces, who improved to 5-2, good for a share of second place in the standings. Import Romeo Travis, rookie Chris Banchero and veteran Dondon Hontiveros all scored 14, while JVee Casio added 11.
Calvin Abueva didn’t put up a lot of points but made his presence felt with 8 points, 15 rebounds, and 6 assists.
The hapless Carnival were paced by its two imports. Hamady N’Diaye recorded 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 blocks before leaving the game early after taking a hit on the face. Taiwanese star Jet Chang, meanwhile, added 10 markers on 3/11 FG shooting.

SAN MIGUEL BEERMEN over NLEX ROAD WARRIORS, 96-92

The San Miguel Beermen stretched their winning streak to six games after rolling past NLEX, 96-92, to continue their climb up the PBA Governors’ Cup standings on Friday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.
The Road Warriors hung tough in the fourth quarter, but San Miguel import Arizona Reid came up with several big shots in the last three minutes for the Beermen and Marcio Lassiter sealed the win a free throw in the dying seconds.
Reid tallied 30 points and 10 rebounds, Lassiter added 21 points, and June Mar Fajardo had a huge double-double with 16 points and 17 rebounds to lead the Beermen.
With the win, streaking San Miguel improved to 6-2, while NLEX dropped to 2-5.
Asian import Michel Madanly finished with a team-high 24 points for NLEX. Kwame Alexander added 21 points and 13 rebounds before fouling out, while Asi Taulava had 20 markers.
