The 2015 PBA Govs’ Cup playoff cast was completed after tonight’s pair of scintillating games. Kia survived Meralco’s challenge in the first game, which paved the way for Ginebra’s advancing to the next round after they defeated the Road Warriors in the main event.

The Kia Carnival kept their hopes for a first-ever playoff appearance alive after escaping Meralco with an all-important 88-85 victory on Wednesday at the SMART-araneta Coliseum.

The Carnival made a terrific stand in the fourth quarter, coming back from a six-point deficit before getting some big stops and making some free throws in the endgame for the win.

Import Hamady N’Diaye finished with 24 points, 19 rebounds, and 6 blocks, while point guard LA Revilla added 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists for Kia, which finished the Govenors’ Cup elimination round tied with Meralco and Talk ‘N Text at 5-6.

Talk N Text and NLEX got some much-needed wins to keep their quarterfinal hopes alive in the 2015 PBA Govs’ Cup tonight.

TALK N TEXT TROPANG TEXTERS over KIA CARNIVAL, 94-85

The Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters weathered a furious rally by the Kia Carnival to come away with a 94-85 win and bolster their playoff bid in the PBA Governors’ Cup Friday at SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

Jayson Castro top-scored for Talk ‘N Text with 19 points, and he got ample help from Kelly Williams and Ranidel De Ocampo, who finished with 14 markers apiece for the Tropang Texters, who built a 28-point lead in the second period only to be erased by the Carnival in the third frame.

Rain or Shine clinched a spot in the 2015 PBA Govs’ Cup quarterfinals after beating Kia, while Barako Bull lost its third game in a row after getting blown out by Ginebra.

The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters notched their fifth straight win of the tournament after holding off the Kia Carnival, 94-90, in PBA Governors’ Cup action Wednesday at SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

Paul Lee scored 20 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and was a perfect 10-of-10 from the free throw line as Rain or Shine improved to 6-4 and moved up to a share of the fourth spot as the elimination round enters its homestretch.

The 2015 PBA Govs’ Cup got even more interesting as GlobalPort moved within half a game of third place, while Meralco tied ROS at fifth spot after beating the skidding Ginebra Gin Kings.

Jarrid Famous put up some monster numbers for GlobalPort while Terrence Romeo came alive at just the right time, leading the Batang Pier to a 102-94 victory over the Kia Carnival on Sunday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

Famous scored 30 points and grabbed 37 big rebounds alongside 3 blocks in a huge effort for the Batang Pier. The GlobalPort import nearly matched the entire Kia team’s rebounding output of 40 all by his lonesome.

Things got very interesting tonight in the 2015 PBA Govs’ Cup as Kia caught a big fish tonight by beating erstwhile top team Barako Bull Energy, and Rain or Shine frustrated the NLEX Road Warriors.

KIA CARNIVAL over BARAKO BULL ENERGY, 71-68

The Kia Carnival completed a late rally to escape erstwhile leader Barako Bull Energy, 71-68, in PBA Governors’ Cup action Wednesday at SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

Asian import Jet Chang finished with 15 points and 6 rebounds to pace Kia, which snapped a two-game skid to improve its record to 4-3.

Barako Bull was still up by six, 67-61, with 5:38 left in the game when the Carnival launched a 9-1 run late to grab a 70-68 lead with 1:11 left.

LA Revilla added 10 points for Kia, while import Hamady N’Diaye had 8 points and 14 rebounds.

The Alaska Aces and San Miguel Beermen notched separate wins tonight to remain at the top tier of the team standings in the 2015 PBA Governors’ Cup.

The Alaska Aces continued their strong campaign in the PBA Governors’ Cup as they obliterated expansion team Kia by 38 points, 101-63, on Friday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

Vic Manuel led the way with 17 points and 4 rebounds for the Aces, who improved to 5-2, good for a share of second place in the standings. Import Romeo Travis, rookie Chris Banchero and veteran Dondon Hontiveros all scored 14, while JVee Casio added 11.

The Star Hotshots got a much-needed win tonight, beating erstwhile streaking Kia Carnival. With the win, Star separated itself from cellar-dwelling Blackwater and pulled Kia down to the middle of the pack.

PUREFOODS STAR HOTSHOTS over KIA CARNIVAL, 89-80
Box scores.
The Star Hotshots ended a four-game losing streak behind the stellar play of superstar James Yap as they defeated Kia, 89-80, on Saturday in an out-of-town contest in Angeles City, Pampanga.

Yap scored 23 points, including four three-pointers, to lead the Hotshots. He scored 16 of those in a red-hot first half before putting the finishing touches on the game with two clutch triples in the final minute. Import Marqus Blakely shrugged off some foul trouble to also finish with 23 points as well as makings some big defensive plays in the fourth.

#PBA2015 GOVS CUP PREVIEW: KIA CARNIVAL vs PUREFOODS STAR HOTSHOTS - SINK OR SWIM?

As of this writing, Kia has won three of its four games and is sitting pretty near the top right behind leaders Barako Bull and Alaska. On the other hand, we have Purefoods Star, which has lost four of its five games and is mired in the cellar together with NLEX and Blackwater. The Carnival are coming off a huge win against fellow expansion team Blackwater and are looking good to make a legitimate challenge for a spot in the quarterfinals. PUR, meanwhile, is coming off its fourth straight loss, this time to the Alaska Aces, and things don’t look too good for the defending champs as powerhouse teams Ginebra, ROS, and TNT are to follow after this match against Kia.

Asian imports came up big in tonight’s action from the 2015 PBA Governors’ Cup as Kia dumped Blackwater and Talk N Text dropped NLEX.

Asian import Jet Chang of Taiwan led the way with 25 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists, while Senegalese center Hamady N’Diaye posted monster numbers of 16 points, 23 rebounds, and 9 blocks in the win.

Fans were treated to two close games in today’s action from the 2015 PBA Governors’ Cup. Talk N Text had to weather a late rally to survive Alaska, while Hyram Bagatsing sank the Road Warriors with a game-winning three in the endgame.

Kia’s Hyram Bagatsing nailed a clutch three-pointer with one second remaining to give his Carnival squad a stunning 85-82 victory over NLEX in PBA Governors’ Cup action on Monday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.

Kia led by nine points, 80-71, with six minutes remaining but went scoreless in nearly four minutes as NLEX came back to tie the game at 82-all with 15 seconds remaining.

Today’s 2015 PBA Governors’ Cup action saw the Road Warriors beating sister team Meralco while the Gin Kings were able to turn back the pesky Kia Carnival to get their first win.

The NLEX Road Warriors missed the services of Asian import Michel Madanly but were not lacking firepower as the locals played big in a 91-84 victory over sister team Meralco on Wednesday at the Cuneta Astrodome.

Kwame Alexander had 29 points and 17 rebounds but only needed to score four points in the fourth quarter as he got plenty of support from his local teammates.

Veteran Asi Taulava was in vintage form, posting a double-double of 20 points and 10 boards.

2015 PBA Governors’ Cup action continued to heat up as Barako Bull leaned on 7’2 Liam McMorrow and JC Intal to dispose of NLEX, while the Kia Carnival beat the San Miguel Beermen for the second time this season.

Barako Bull Energy opened their PBA Governors’ Cup campaign on a high note as import Liam McMorrow and JC Intal led the team to a 101-96 win over NLEX on Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

The 7-foot-2 McMorrow had an impressive debut with 33 points and 22 rebounds, while Intal scored 14 of his 24 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Energy.

The top two spots in the 2015 PBA Commissioner’s Cup were set in stone after ROS and TNT booked separate wins tonight over Kia and Alaska respectively.

The Rain or Shine Elasto-Painters used a blistering second period run to hammer Kia by 20 points, 119-99, and secure the No.1 seed in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Sunday at SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

Import Wayne Chism scored 28 points and 12 rebounds while also burying 6 of 12 three-pointers to pace the Painters, especially in the second quarter where they scored 41 points, taking the fight out of the Carnival.

The 2015 PBA Commissioner’s Cup quarterfinals may not include SMB after they lost to TNT tonight, while NLEX padded its chances after deflating the Kia Carnival.

NLEX ROAD WARRIORS over KIA CARNIVAL, 102-86

The NLEX Road Warriors kept their winning run going after stomping expansion team Kia, 102-86, to clinch a fifth consecutive PBA Commissioner’s Cup victory on Wednesday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

NLEX outscored Kia by 19 points in the fourth quarter, 33-14, as they ran away with the victory despite trailing by as many as 11 in the third period.

Al Thornton, who finished with 33 points and 14 rebounds, did not have the gaudy numbers of Kia counterpart PJ Ramos, who had 41 points and 23 rebounds, but it was more than enough in this one with several of his local teammates stepping up.

The final playdate before the 2015 All-Star Weekend saw the Kia Carnival record another big upset, while the Beermen finally got their second win at the expense of Barako Bull.

The Kia Carnival, behind a phenomenal 30-30 performance from its hulking import PJ Ramos, scored another big win over an established franchise as it frustrated Alaska for a 103-89 victory in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup on Tuesday at the SMART Araneta-Coliseum.

Kia had a dominant stretch in the fourth quarter where they outscored Alaska, 21-7, to blow the game wide open.

The Kia Carnival were probably counting on an easy time against the Elite, but the tables were turned as Blackwater notched its second franchise win in the 2015 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

The Blackwater Elite picked up only their second ever win in franchise history after outlasting Kia, 115-104, in a battle of the PBA’s newest franchises on Saturday at the Arena in San Juan.

With the win, Blackwater improved to 2-6 in the Commissioner’s Cup while Kia dropped to 3-5.

Brian Heruela led the way with a career-high 27 points, import Marcus Douthit had an all-around line of 24 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists, and 5 blocks, while Sunday Salvacion chipped in with 22 off the bench as the Elite gained some measure of revenge against the Carnival.

The 2015 PBA Commissioner’s Cup got rocked again after Kia Carnival scalped the TNT Tropang Texters. In the second game, meanwhile, Ginebra turned back Blackwater.

The Kia Carnival upset tour continued on Wednesday after they claimed another victim in the Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters, 106-103 in a PBA Commissioner’s Cup clash at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

With their monster import PJ Ramos dominating the paint and his wide-open shooters knocking down long range bombs from afar, Kia picked up a third victory in seven games in the current conference while snapping the Talk ‘N Text’s three-game winning streak.

It was the second straight win for the Carnival – the first back-to-back wins in Kia’s franchise history.

Giant-killing was the name of the game in the 2015 PBA Commissioner’s Cup last night with GlobalPort handing Barako Bull only its second loss and Kia slaying the mighty defending champions.

Alabi had a monster 37-point, 27-rebound performance for the Energy, but it was not enough against a Batang Pier side that just had more weapons.

Terrence Romeo scored 24 points, while import Calvin Warner had 23 points and 19 rebounds for GlobalPort, which improved to 3-3.

Barako Bull continued its winning ways even in the absence of star guard Sol Mercado as the Energy clinched a hard-fought 95-86 victory over Manny Pacquiao’s Kia Carnival on Sunday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

Import Solomon Alabi had one of his finest efforts in the PBA, putting up 26 points, 20 rebounds, and 8 blocks to lead Barako Bull to a third consecutive victory.

JC Intal posted 18 points and 4 steals, while Chico Lanete added 10 markers in the win.

Kia, despite welcoming player coach Pacquiao back to the bench, fell to 1-3 for the conference following their upset win over Philippine Cup champion San Miguel.
